Hi Everyone:
Meteor Crater, 50,000 years ago a 150 foot wide iron-nickel meteorite crashed into earth at approximately 26,000 mph. The resulting impact created Meteor Crater. The crater is over 4,000 feet wide and 700 feet deep. The meteorite estimated weight was several hundred thousand tons. It struck with a force greater than 20 million tons of TNT. For comparison, the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima was the equivalent of 20 thousand tons of TNT.
