Hi Everyone:
This is when Barb & I were in Moab Utah in late June. This is not a good time to visit here due to the high temperature predicted this week to be between 105 & 110 deg. We planned to visit this area earlier but were delayed due to snow, wind & other bad weather early in our trip.
There are two really great National Parks located nearby. On June 28th we visited Canyonlands National Park. There are three regions in this Park. The Island In The Sky Region is what we planed for today.
This Park is a off-the-road paradise for those who enjoy 4-wheeling and back country hiking & camping. Barb & I are now into comfort & won't be doing any of this. This is also another one of this Country's beautiful National Park for those of us who are here for the spectacular views & natural wonders.

The "Monitor & Merrimac". Due to their resemblance, these Buttes are named after the two ships that fought against each other in the Civil War Naval battle.

"Grand View Point", Elevation 6,080 ft. Overlooking "Monument Basin". Vertical fractures in the sandstone caused rocks to erode into steep sided walls, columns and pinnacles. The dirt canyon rim road down below for 4-wheeling is 100 miles long. It is recommended to allow at least two days to do this road. That's at least two days overnight back country camping requiring a special permit.
